	Overview
	This capstone module aims to review contemporary global development mega-trends and related policy responses. The module will offer students a chance to hear from practitioners, including International Development graduates, on various new thinking and initiatives, in the past - social protection, business ethics and environmental responses. During the module, students will look at the SDGs' progress and use Ireland as a case study to examine how SDGs are implemented at a country level. The module will focus on policy � what the term means, where policies are made and who are policy actors, and how policy is linked to systems change. On the latter, the module will review progress on climate action and the greening of the economic system.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Understand current thinking on a range of mega-trends and policy responses. Developed an insight into how policies are formed and their role in systems change. Have reviewed the SDG progress and developed an understanding of the challenges of policy implementation at the national level in Ireland. Explored the issue of systems change and how it related to climate and environmental decoupling. Reviewed a sample of new initiatives and thinking to address global development challenges from practitioners.

Learning Outcomes

	Autumn Supplementals/Resits
	Are supplemental/resit registrations permitted? Yes Repeat students must resit the repeat assignment in the Autumn and submit any outstanding continuous assessment by a date before the Autumn deadline, which will be specified by the department. Students are responsible for familiarising themselves with this deadline. If students do not submit by the deadline, the existing continuous assessment mark will be carried forward to the Autumn. No continuous assessment work will be accepted after this date. This will apply except upon presentation of a medical certificate covering the relevant period or in other extremely extenuating circumstances, which must be communicated to, and accepted by, the lecturer prior to, or immediately after, the relevant deadline.
