Students will read a selection of prose fictions from the eighteenth century to the present. The module will introduce students to some key concepts of narrative structure (such as plot and genre) and encourage students to relate these formal issues to the content of the texts they are reading. Students will also be introduced to the history of fiction writing within the Irish and non-Western literary traditions.
