The Centre for Teaching & Learning is an academic research and development Centre, which seeks to influence and lead excellence in staff and student teaching and learning.
The Centre for Teaching and Learning has responsibility for teaching and learning support and development in the University. At a programme level, we offer two accredited courses in teaching and learning, the Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education and the Professional Certificate in Teaching and Learning (Tutors and Demonstrators). At a local level, we provide consultation and support to all Maynooth University teaching staff in the following areas:
- Course/module design
- Teaching methods
- E-learning support and development
- Moodle development, support and training
- Web 2.0 tools for collaboration and communication
- Assessment and teaching evaluation
We work with individuals, groups, departments and faculties, offering; individual consultation and advice, seminars and workshops, customised presentations and workshops, and online support materials. In addition, CTL staff members participate in national and international organisations and expert groups in the areas of teaching, evaluation, technology, civic engagement and higher education research.
