Soft Matter Poster Prize for Department of Chemistry Ph.D. Student
Susan James, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Chemistry, Maynooth University was awarded the Soft Matter poster prize at the 9th Liquid Matter Conference, held in Lisbon, Portugal on 21-25th July 2014.

Maynooth University Geographers published in Nature Climate Change
ICARUS researchers Tom Mathews, Conor Murphy and Shaun Harrigan along with Prfessor Robert L. Wilby (Loughborough University) have had their research published in the prestigous Nature Climate Change (Impact factor 14.5 in 2012) on the storminess of winter 2013/2014.

Maynooth University Biology postgraduate student to represent Ireland in Young Microbiologist Award Competition.
Mr. Fred McMahon, a third year postgraduate student in the Department of Biology, will represent Ireland in the final of the Young Microbiologist of the Year Award competition organised by the Society for General Microbiology in London in September. Fred won the Irish semi-final in September 2013 for a talk on his project entitled, “Analysis of the role of Bacillus protein in the induction of corneal damage in ocular rosacea”.
