Maynooth staff members attend Arqus Alliance Micro-credentials Development Workshop at the University of Padua

Maynooth University was pleased to have the opportunity to send two of its staff members to take part in the Arqus Alliance Micro-credentials Development Workshop, which took place at the University of Padua on March 18th and 19th, 2024.

This Arqus micro-credentials development workshop was a unique opportunity for those within the Alliance institutions who are passionate about advancing knowledge, exchanging ideas and are willing to contribute to the micro-credentials development in order to push academic landscape boundaries and the Arqus academic offering forward.
Participants were provided with expertise and support in designing and developing micro-credentials during the workshop to ensure the highest quality of prepared micro-credentials courses.

This organised workshop served as the 1st stage of the activity cycle, planned to ensure success in shaping micro-credentials across the Arqus Alliance universities.

Maynooth’s participants contributed to the workshop by sharing best practices from their experiences of working across micro-credentials at Maynooth University.

Sinéad Gannon, MU Project Lead - Micro-Credentials Project who presented at the event commented:

“The workshop was truly engaging, and it was fantastic to connect in person with colleagues from across the Arqus Alliance. The micro-credential development workshop provided a valuable platform for sharing administrative processes and best practices at Maynooth University. During the breakout sessions colleagues engaged in initial discussions regarding the development of collaborative micro-credentials with partner universities in the fields of Artificial Intelligence & Digital Transformation, Climate Change and Sustainable Development”.

Isabel Meza is the STEM Passport for Inclusion Programme Manager at the ALL Institute at Maynooth University and shared first hand a real case of implementing the Mentoring for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion micro-credential at Maynooth University which has been running since September 2023 under the leadership of
Dr Katriona O'Sullivan. The attendees learned about the implementation and impact of micro-credentials in a university setting and the benefits of micro-credentials for industry.

Ben Finnegan, the Arqus Alliance Manager at Maynooth University noted that:
