MAIN INDEX
I have developed a number of web sites over the years. These were originally developed as separate standalone sites, but this index page was added subsequently to provide a single entry point to all the sites. Some sites contain a large number of pages, whilst others may contain only a few pages. Some sites are still under development, whilst others are fully developed but are updated from time to time. A few sites (charitably marked as a 'legacy site') are now basically defunct.
Each site is more or less self-contained and may be distinguished by the use of different colour schemes. There are a few links between sites. These previously opened the linked site in a new browser window, but an attempt has been made to standardise the links so that the new site will open within the existing window. However, a few may have escaped notice.
Click on one of the links below to open a site. You may return to this page from within any site by clicking on the Main Index link at the bottom of the navigation panel which will appear on the left side of the screen.
- Personal Home Page: A fairly extensive site containing miscellaneous ramblings about me, my career to date, and my teaching and research interests.
- Course Resources: Resources for the courses that I currently teach in Medical/Health Geography and GIS.
- Small Area Population Statistics in Maynooth: Guide to how to use the PC Census_Read program which may be used to access the SAPS data from the 1971, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996 and 2002 cenusues.
- GIS In Maynooth: Site established to provide an introduction to Geographical Information Systems and Computing, and to outline the history of GIS in Maynooth. (Incomplete. The existing parts will probably be incorporated into the Course Resources site in 2006).
- International Geographical Union: Site managed on behalf of the National / Academy Committee of Geography providing information received from the International Geographical Union.
- Single Honours Geography Information: [Legacy Site] Information for second and third year single honours students in Geography. The site was decommissioned in May 2009 and the information was transferred to the main Geography web site. This site is no longer updated.
- Postgraduate Studies In Geography: [Legacy Site] Site containing information for current and intending postgraduate students in Geography at NUI Maynooth, created when I was the Departmental Postgraduate Manager. No longer maintained, but more recent information maintained by Paddy Duffy should be found in the Geography Department website.
- IGU Political Geography Resources: [Legacy Site] This site was set up in advance of a conference hosted in Maynooth in 1998 on behalf of the International Geographical Union Commission on the World Political Map. The site contains abstracts and the full text of many of the papers, along with other resources, memorabilia and links. It also contains a link to the official site of the Commission on Political Geography which providess links to recent newsletters.
- Cross Border Health Research Network: [Legacy Site] Web site established to facilitate the development of a cross-border network of health researchers. The network unfortunately never really took off and the site is now more or less defunct.
