Una Crowley and Dennis Pringle led a party of second year students on a fieldtrip to Belfast on the 2nd-4th April. The party left Maynooth around 2.30pm on Friday 2nd April and arrived at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum around 7.00pm. After a short break, the group departed for Bangor where students were left to explore for themselves.
On the Saturday, students were divided into groups and provided with outline details of 3 projects, out of which they would be required to complete one on returning to Maynooth by April 23rd. They were also told to explore the Folk and Transport Museum with a view to identifying what they thought was good and bad about the way in which the material in the Museum was presented. The Projects Handout outlining the projects may be viewed here.
A meeting was held on the Saturday evening to review the points identified by each group. Use the Discussion Summary link to view a summary of the positive and negative points identified by the group. Following the meeting, the group departed to Belfast for some free time.
A further meeting was held on Sunday morning to provide some background information about Belfast before departing on a tour which finished at approximately 3.30pm. The route of the tour may be viewed using the Map 1, Map 2, Map 3 and Map 4 links. (The quality of the maps is unfortately not very good, but it should be possible to follow the route).
Marks are now available for the group projects submitted by April 23rd.
