Research
NIRSA's research consists of the comparative study of global processes as they impact on regional and spatial development in Ireland.
NIRSA's Associates and Fellows are drawn from a wide variety of disciplines including Anthropology, Applied Social Studies, Business Studies, Economics, Engineering, Geography, History, and Sociology.
These scholars have been organised into four interdisciplinary research groups, each composed of a critical mass of researchers working on particular themes. These groups represent the key foci and strengths of the Institute, and form the arenas within which individual projects are developed.
Since its founding, NIRSA Associates have successfully gained funding for over 186 projects totalling some €42.6m of which €19.7m has come directly to NIRSA partners.
