Wednesday 17th June - Programme

Wednesday 17th June 2009

13.00-14.00   Registration (Tea / Coffee on arrival)

14.00-15.30  Pre-Conference Workshop

Participative Methodologies (including Network World
Café) facilitated by Community Action Network (CAN)

                     Aim

The aim of the workshop is to introduce participants to a
variety of participative methodologies (including world café
networking) and to explore the opportunities and challenges
of applying them in various contexts.

                    Objectives

                    Workshop participiants will:

                     • Have an opportunity to share their experiences of
                        participation.
                     • Explore the skills of promoting participative methodologies
                     • Be provided with a brief introduction to the working
principles and practice of creative methods such as: the use
of symbols/ art, cartoons, problem posing, world café
                        networking, inquiry, dialogue and storytelling.
                     • Networking world café is an innovative but simple
methodology for hosting conversations about questions
that matter. These conversations link and build on each
other as people move between groups, cross-polinate ideas
and discover new insights into the questions or issues that
are most important in their life, work or community. As a
process, the World Café can evoke and make visible the
collective intelligence of any group, thus increasing people’s
capacity for effective action in pursuit of common aims. The
workshop will provide an opportunity to demonstrate how                        this and similar methodologies can provide innovative ways
of surfacing and building up collaborative ideas and collective
                       actions, even in competitive environments.

The Workshop will be facilitated by Community Action Network
                     (CAN)
, a small not for profit community development
organisation based in Dublin since in 1987. Please click here
