"Issues in Qualitative data archiving and sharing: Tales from ESDS Qualidata and Timescapes"

Libby Bishop is the Research Liaison Officer in the University of Manchester. Her work focuses on resource development, collection promotion and outreach to the research community. Key areas include creating teaching datasets and other guides to support teaching and learning. Particular emphasis is placed on collaboration and outreach to ESRC programmes and centres, such as NCRM, CLS/NCDS and Timescapes and customising resources based on outputs from these projects. She encourages reuse and secondary analysis of ESDS Qualidata's holdings by conducting workshops and producing support materials and participates in general promotion and publicity activities. In addition she is a member of the British Sociological Association and a member of the International Association for Social Science Information Service and Technology.

Abstract

The Irish Qualitative Data Archive (IQDA) will be a central access point for qualitative social science data in media other than machine-readable datasets and will frame the parameters and standards for archiving such data within the Irish research community. It is part of the Irish Social Science Platform (ISSP) and is based at the National Institute of Regional and Spatial Analysis (NIRSA).
