Day 1 of the ISSP summer school provides a forum for doctoral students to locate their proposed abstracts within their overall PhD topics, thus offering the opportunity to obtain constructive feedback from peers and academics in a supportive environment. The sessions are designed to showcase the diversity of new social science research being undertaken at both Irish and international universities.
The Summer School organising committee requests that participants prepare their *250 word abstract* (see Programme above for further details) and submit this as a Word document to issplatform@nuim.ie by *5pm, Friday 21st May, 2010*.
We request that you insert *'ISSP Summer School Abstract: (your name)'* in the subject line of your submission e-mail. We look forward to receiving your submissions.
Day 1 sessions will be in plenary format, thus enabling all members of the platform to be introduced to the research interests of their peers; and presentations will be 5 minutes in duration followed by 5 minutes for questions and feedback.
On the final day of the summer school, students will revisit their abstracts, in a similar interactive short paper session, discussing how the contributions and debates over the past week have influenced their approach to their research papers.
