Benjamin Réamonn, Coláiste Chilliain, Clondalkin and Alexandru Buda, St Marks Community School, Tallaght were joint overall winners of the NUI Maynooth Grand Challenge - the first of a number of programmes targeting late developers in mathematics and providing opportunities for their access to numerate disciplines in third-level education. The challenge, which also involved the Hamilton Institute, was aimed at second-level students who are taking mathematics at any level, either pass or honours. Winners received either an iPod or a Mac laptop. A desktop computer was presented to the winning school.
