Meteorology is the study of the earth's atmosphere in its relation to weather and climate (Chambers 1988,569). The Maynooth collection in this area is small, though it could also include instruments listed elsewhere in the catalogue: some of the thermometers listed under Heat; and the aneroid barometer contained in the "Travelling Set" (376) listed under Surveying and Navigation, although its primary purpose was to determine altitude.
