Professor Doherty Speaks at Council for European Studies’ 23rd International Conference of Europeanists

Professor Michael Doherty spoke at the Council for European Studies' (CES) 23rd International Conference of Europeanists, in Philadelphia, USA, which was held from 14 – 16 April 2016. The conference, themed ‘Resilient Europe’, was attended by over 1,000 of the world's leading experts on Europe and European affairs.
 
Professor Doherty spoke at a panel entitled Resilience Through Rights? EU Social and Labour Rights Conditioning the EU Internal Market and Economic and Monetary Union, which featured speakers from the UK, Belgium, and Poland. The panel was formed following collaborative work between Prof Doherty and others on a report, Social and Labour Rights and EU Internal Market Law (requested by the European Parliament's Committee on Employment Affairs (EMPL).
 
Professor Doherty is Head of Maynooth University Department of Law and lectures courses on Employment Law and Work & Employment in Europe on the LLB, as well as lecturing on the MA in Sociology (Work, Labour Markets and Employment) at Maynooth University. His recent work has focused on the impact of the crisis (and nascent recovery) on labour rights and labour market regulation.
