The module objective is to introduce the student to statistics. The following topics are covered. Counting problems. Conditional probability, independence, Bayes theorem. Discrete random variables, mean and variance. Binomial and Poisson. Continuous random variables, exponential distribution. Normal distribution, Normal approximations. Confidence intervals and hypothesis testing: one and two samples, paired samples, proportions. Chi-square tests. Computation using statistical software.
