Faculty Member Wins Prize at the Chinese Teaching Championship

The 3rd Chinese Teaching Championship in English-Speaking Countries in Europe

The finals of the 3rd Chinese Teaching Championship in English-Speaking Countries in Europe were held at the University of London on March 9, 2024. The event was jointly organized by the Representative Office of the Chinese and Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Centre of the Ministry of Education of China, the Association of Chinese Teachers in the UK, the Chinese Proficiency Test UK Committee, and the Irish Association of Chinese Teaching. It drew participants from various regions, including Scotland, Wales, London, the South, Central and North England, Northern Ireland, and Ireland. Representatives showcased their teaching skills, divided into university/adult and primary and secondary school groups, with a total of 22 contestants demonstrating their teaching skills.

Ms. Ziwen Qi from the Chinese Department at MU School of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures represented Ireland. She distinguished herself with her adept use of the situational teaching method, effectively incorporating Chinese grammar into the theme of tourism. She guided students to explore tourism resources along the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, earning her the Third Prize.
