Who can Apply?

The Student Assistance Fund provides financial support to students who are in significant financial difficulty and whose participation in college would be at risk without support. The Fund is best described as a contributory payment which helps students meet some of the day-to-day costs associated with being in college.
All students registered on full-time courses at Maynooth University, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, are eligible to apply. This includes:

  • Students registered on 1st Arts Kilkenny programme (MH 901).
  • Students of Froebel Department of Primary and Early Childhood Education.
  • Students who are registered with St Patrick’s College Maynooth.

Please note the following rules when applying to the Fund:

  • Students on full-time courses that do not lead to an undergraduate qualification, such as foundation or access courses, are not eligible to apply.
  • Students who are repeating internally must be repeating modules with a minimum credit value of 27.5 to be eligible to apply.
  • Students who are repeating externally are not eligible to apply.
  • Students who are in receipt of a scholarship or bursary in excess of €3,000 are not eligible for the SAF unless there are very exceptional circumstances contributing to financial hardship.
  • International students are not eligible for the SAF and are advised to contact the International Office if in need of financial support.
  • Non Maynooth University Erasmus students are not eligible for the SAF and are advised to contact their own institution if in need of financial support.
