Supporting Documentation

Financial information and additional supporting documentation is required when applying to the Fund. You are advised to provide photocopies of your documents as documents are retained for auditing purposes and will not be returned. You may be requested to provide originals at a later date. All students must provide the following documentation:

  • If you are eligible for a grant (includes part payment of the Student Contribution Charge), you must provide a letter from SUSI/ Local Authority confirming that you have been approved for a grant.
     
  • If you are NOT in receipt of a grant, you must provide evidence of household income for 2012. This must be one of the following:
    - P21
    - Notice of Assessment
    - Social Welfare Statement

  • Birth certificate(s) for all children who are financially dependent on you (if applicable).
     
  • Supporting documentation must be returned to the Access Office by 3pm on Friday 8th November 2013. Late applications and/ or supporting documentation will not be accepted after the closing date.
     
  • Your application is only complete when you return your supporting documentation. The University will not correspond with students who submit an online application form only.
     
  • Students who are experiencing difficulty with the documentation or receipting requirements for the SAF should contact the Access Office at saf@mu.ie for assistance.  In such cases, students will be asked to come in for an appointment to discuss their individual circumstances and may be referred to the Student Budgeting Advisor. Every effort will be made to be as flexible as possible where there are exceptional circumstances leading to significant financial hardship.

Important Information on Financial Documentation:

  • Students under 23 on year of entry will be assessed based on the household income of their parents/ guardians.
  • Mature students (over 23 on year of entry) will be assessed based on their own household income. To be assessed on their own income, mature students must provide proof that they are living independently (i.e. utility bill in own name).
  • Mature students who are living with their parents/ guardians will be assessed on the household income of their parents/ guardians.
  • Please provide evidence if there has been a significant change in income since 2012 (i.e. P45, payslips, or social welfare receipts).
