In the Education Department we are interested in the quality of teaching and learning. This includes deepening our understanding through the conduct of research, both individually and collectively, into pedagogy, into educational practices and principles, into leadership in an educational setting, into counselling and guidance, into social justice and educational disadvantage. It also includes sharing that understanding with others, through publishing and teaching the learnings from our research.
Why do we undertake research in the Education Department? Our core reason is the advancement of knowledge about and the deepening of expertise in educational practices and rationales.
We are continually developing new research ideas with other departments and groups, including our joint research with the Department of Adult and Community Education on themes including development education, migration and inclusive education, community education projects, e-learning and narrative research in education.
