27 Chinese students are the first cohort of international students to take part in the new summer school programme on campus.

The International Office and the Education Department designed the initiative as a specialised four week intensive for future Chinese school teachers.
The Education Summer School consists of a series of seminars on teaching skills, innovations in education, Irish education policy and system, Irish higher education and lifelong learning to include but a few. The group also had a number of school visits and classroom teaching observations. Through this intensive summer programme, students developed a strong relationship with NUI Maynooth.

This year's students, from East China Normal University, our partner university in Shanghai were chosen from an overall group of 100 and chose NUI Maynooth above a number of possible host universities. Field trips were organised to some famous Irish historical houses and heritage sites including Carton Estate, Farmleigh, Powerscourt Gardens.
